Barnwell Nursing Home was founded in 1940 by Gladys Bownes, RN.  Above is a picture of the original wood frame building that that has grown from a business that started in Mrs. Bownes' home, to a five story building with 228 beds and nearly 300  employees.  We pride ourselves on Barnwell's unique, home like atmosphere.
