The monthly Event Calendar for our facility is coordinated by the staff in the Activities Department.  The Activities Department encourages the resident's voluntary choice of activities and participation, and promotes and maintains the resident's sense of usefulness to self and others.  It is our goal to make the resident's  life more meaningful, to stimulate and support the desire to use his or her physical and mental capabilities to the fullest extent, and enable the resident to maintain a sense of usefulness and self respect.

Below is a sample of the monthly Activities offered to our residents.  Different Activities are offered every month, but the list below will give you an idea of what the monthly Event Calendar looks like.

bulletMonthly luncheons or barbeque (weather permitting) in the Community Room
bulletIntergenerational programs and parties with Little Falls Kinder Center, and local school districts several times each month
bulletCooking programs in Mama's kitchen
bulletUnit activities like tea parties, root beer floats, pet therapy, bed side reading
bulletGroup activities in the Community Room such as BINGO, Relaxation groups, shuffle board, card and board games, movies, and exercise groups
bulletAfternoon outside walks (weather permitting)
bulletMusic programs daily on the nursing units

Event Calendars are posted in the Lobby area of the facility, on each resident unit and in each resident's room.

National Nursing Home Week starts on Mother's Day each year!

National Nursing Home week is a special time for recognizing our loyal staff who continue year after year to provide the residents in our care with the medical attention they need and the respect and dignity that they deserve.  This is also a special time to recognize the residents at Barnwell.  We encourage friends and family members to visit and participate in special activities as much as possible.  Nursing facilities are always looking for individuals to volunteer their time.  A few hours every week, or just a few hours every month can make a difference in the lives of our elderly residents.  Do you have pets or children who would like to visit?  Do you have an interest or hobby you would like to share?  For more information about Activities being held at our facility, or becoming a volunteer, contact Jeanne Morris, Activities Director at (518)758-6222 ext. 3026
